Home
I am a qualified Ceramic Restorer based in Bristol, UK where I work from a little studio near my home. Most of the space is occupied by my ceramic work, but I have also set up a small picture framing business with the owner of the studio - who is making use of my ‘previous life’ as a picture framer in order to help him start up, and learn the tips of the trade! (The business trades under the name Greenbank 5 Framing at 37a Gratitude Road, Greenbank, Bristol BS5 6EH Tel: 0117 9520491)
As well as carrying out ceramic restoration, I am also a Miniature Painter, and accept commissions for portraits of either people or animals - although am always happy to paint other subjects which may interest you. I teach miniature painting at various one day, weekend and mid-week classes at residential adult learning centres around the south and southwest - see www.earnley.co.uk www.westdean.org.uk and www.FarncombeEstate.co.uk - and in July 2010 I am doing a one-day “taster” at Compton Verney Museum near Stratford.
Stained Glass and Picture Framing Classes:
Over the last couple of years I have become more established as a tutor, and use several venues both near Bristol and further afield to teach not only ceramic restoration and miniature painting, but also picture framing and stained glass. I supply all the tools and most of the equipment needed for all of the courses, and really enjoy passing on my enthusiasm and enjoyment of these subjects to others. My regular weekly class on stained glass is at www.bristolfolkhouse.co.uk where I also do 4 Saturday “taster” workshops every term on either stained glass or picture framing - and I will be starting to teach mosaics there in the Spring 2010. Other venues booked to teach at this year are the University of Bristol Botanic Gardens at www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/BotanicGardens the Wye Valley Arts Centre www.wyearts.co.uk and Dillington House in Somerset www.dillington.com. All of the residential venues are invariably set in beautiful countryside and, together with the lovely food and accommodation they offer, make brilliant weekend or weekly breaks if you enjoy creating something worthwhile and in good company!
Whatever it is you are interested in, please contact me by phone or email so that I can give you further information, or contact the establishment itself to find out prices and booking arrangements.
Ceramic conservation & restoration
I offer a conservation and restoration service for all types of ceramic objects, ranging from the archaeological/museum objects to twentieth century “collectibles”, whether valuable in monetary terms, or simply sentimental and much loved by their owners. All are treated with the same care and sensitivity, using modern techniques and equipment, in my studio based in Bristol.

Miniature painting
Commissions are undertaken for miniature paintings, using watercolour on ivorine, and I specialise in mostly animal portraiture and other natural subjects. All pictures are supplied suitably mounted and framed (based on over 16 years experience in running my own picture framing business) and are usually based on several photographs provided by the clients.
