I am a qualified Ceramic Restorer based in Bristol, UK where I work from a little studio near my home.  Most of the space is occupied by my ceramic work, but I have also set up a small picture framing business with the owner of the studio - who is making use of my ‘previous life’ as a picture framer for more than 20 years in order to help him start up, and learn the tips of the trade! (The business trades under the name Greenbank 5 Framing at 37a Gratitude Road, Greenbank, Bristol BS5 6EH Tel: 0117 9520491)

As well as carrying out ceramic restoration, I am also a Miniature Painter, and accept commissions for portraits of either people or animals - although am always happy to paint other subjects which may interest you.

I teach miniature painting at various one day, weekend and mid-week classes at residential adult learning centres around the south and southwest, where I also now teach Picture Framing, Stained Glass, China Restoration and Mosaics - see http://www.earnley.co.uk/  http://www.westdean.org.uk/  www.missendenabbey-al.co.uk/arca  http://www.dillington.com/  http://www.wyearts.co.uk/  http://www.bristolfolkhouse.co.uk/ for some of my courses, or see “Forthcoming Courses” section of this Website.

Stained Glass, Picture Framing and Mosaic Classes/Courses:

Over the last few years I have become more established as a tutor, and use several venues both near Bristol and further afield.  I supply all the tools and most of the equipment needed for all of the courses, and really enjoy passing on my enthusiasm and enjoyment of these subjects to others.  My regular weekly class on stained glass is at http://www.bristolfolkhouse.co.uk/ where I also do 4 Saturday “taster” workshops every term on either stained glass, picture framing or mosaics.  Other venues booked to teach at this year are the Wye Valley Arts Centre http://www.wyearts.co.uk/  Dillington House in Somerset http://www.dillington.com/   Earnley Concourse near Chichester  http://www.earnley.co.uk/  Missenden Abbey in Bucks  www.missenndenabbey-al.co.uk/arca and West Dean College near Chichester http://www.westdean.org.uk/   All of these residential venues are invariably set in beautiful countryside and, together with the lovely food and accommodation they offer, make brilliant weekend or weekly breaks if you enjoy creating something worthwhile and in good company - or know someone else who would!

Whatever it is you are interested in, please contact me by phone or email so that I can give you further information, or contact the establishment itself to find out prices and booking arrangements, and please click on my Forthcoming Events page for dates and venues coming up.

Miniature painting

MiniaturesCommissions are undertaken for miniature paintings, using watercolour on ivorine, and I specialise in mostly animal portraiture and other natural subjects. All pictures are supplied suitably mounted and framed (based on over 16 years experience in running my own picture framing business) and are usually based on several photographs provided by the clients.

I am also happy to do short talks/demonstrations for various art groups, so if this interests you please contact me to discuss details/possibilites etc.
